Showtime '97 £1 only.....

I came across this image on the end of a roll. I rejected it at the time, but with the passage of the years it's become more interesting to me.

A quick Google (in Jan 2013)has allowed me to track some of the acts down. From the top left;

Sean Styles, now presenting on BBC Merseyside.

No info on Carly Michaels.

Mike Lancaster, is still working as a comic.

Debbie Paige, last known doing an 80s tribute show.

Buddy Lee,  resident compere at the Viking.

James Stone, possibly appearing in Britain's Got Talent in 2008 and if it's the same guy interviewed in a 2011 Daily Mail article  in which he describes his difficult upbringing, his appearance on New Faces in 1986 and his subsequent ups & downs.

Renowned for having a beautiful, soulful voice, James was also mentioned in a 2011 TV programme which tracked down the stars of that time. A review  said of him -

Liverpudlian soul singer James Stone had got off to a flying start after his New Faces success, but then got trapped in a claustrophobic business relationship with his manager, Christine. She had locked him away from the world in a Welsh bungalow and done an incredible disappearing magic trick with all his earnings.

Mick Miller, stalwart of the British comedy scene, and TV. Still a regular trouper around Blackpool.

Karen Noble , 'Queen of the Soundalikes' and Dusty Springfield tribute act. Karen is also said to be the most travelled British Forces artiste.

If any of the information is out of date or incorrect, please get in touch.

  1. My son is the manager of the Viking Hotel and Buddy is still the compere. He should be a huge star by now! He's hilarious....
